Camp Boggy Creek

International Gator Day is designed as a day when Gators come together to volunteer. Each year on the third Saturday of May, Gators worldwide join forces to positively impact their communities. Gator Clubs from Key West to New York to Seattle to Japan and beyond participate in this day of service.

This year the Lake County Gator Club will once again assist Camp Boggy Creek in preparing for the summer camping season.  Past activities have included painting, cleaning and general maintenance activities, as well as preparing materials to assist in activities for the campers.

Camp Boggy Creek is a permanent, year-round facility in Cassia where young people between the ages of 7-16 with chronic and life-threatening illnesses can come at no charge to them or their families. The majority of the cost of staffing and operating the camp is covered by contributions from individuals, healthcare partnerships, foundations and corporations. Boggy Creek gives campers a chance to normalize their lives by being with children battling the same illness. It also offers critical support to the parents, guardians and siblings of these amazing campers. Located on 232 acres of beautiful wooded land, it has 44 cracker style buildings including 16 camper cabins, dining hall, medical center, swim center, stable, little farm, sports and recreation center, arts and craftsBuilding, creative center and theater. Camp Boggy Creek is patterned after Paul Newman?s original Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, CT. Joining Paul in the founding of the Florida camp was, among others, General H. Norman Schwarzkopf. camping season.
